The 2009 Laser World Championships are poised to begin tomorrow with the official opening ceremonies this evening. 180 competitors from over 50 countries will compete on St. Margaret’s Bay, NS for seven days. For up-to-date information and results click here for the regatta website.

On the weekend of May 2-3, the Laser Atlantic Coast Championships were held in Annapolis MD. A range of challenging conditions made for tough racing. In the end, consistency prevailed and a 2, 1 in the final two races gave me the title. For full results click here.

This week I officially received my berth for the 2009 Laser World Championships to be sailed August 19-26 at the St. Margaret’s Bay Sail Club, NS. I last represented Canada at the 2005 Worlds in Brazil and am looking forward to this opportunity to significantly improve on that finish.

This year’s edition of Laser Midwinter’s East brought a range of conditions from cold and windy to mild and light air. Four days of intense racing were completed with 10 races total. A black flag in race two came back to haunt me at the end of the regatta; however, I still have a strong finish
Miami OCR

This year’s Miami OCR brought a range of conditions and a competitive international fleet. OCSs in race three and eight were disappointing but being aggressive on the start line was essential. For results click here. My next event is the Laser Midwinter’s East Championships in two weeks!
